Congress Limits "Medigap" Insurance Policies for Medicare Deductibles
Medicare beneficiaries will often purchase "Medigap" insurance polies to cover their co-payment and deductible costs after Medicare. However, starting in 2020 Medigap plans will no longer be allowed to offer coverage of the Medicare Part B deductibles (currently set at $147.00). The good news is that current policy holders and those which purchase policies prior to 2020 will be "grandfathered in" and still be eligible for the deductible coverage after that date! If you purchase a Medicare Advantage plan, those policies will still be able to cover the deductible as well after 2020. See the link below from the Elder Law newsletter for more information.
